DOE’s funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for the FY 2008 State Energy Program Competitive Activities (DE-PS26-08NT00319) has been released. Approximately $7.5 million is expected to be made available for new grant awards under this FOA, with a ceiling of $500,000 of DOE share per award.
Applications from States are due by July 10, 2008 at 11:59 pm Eastern time. Application forms and instructionsare available.
In keeping with DOE’s desire to encourage innovation and yet support specific high-priority investments and outcomes, this FOA includes the following two areas of interest:
- Advanced Building Energy Codes ($3.5 million): to develop and implement a plan that will achieve model building codes that are a 30% improvement over ASHRAE 90.1-2004 and/or the 2006 IECC; and
- Utility-Scale Clean Energy Capacity ($4.0 million): to create the policy framework and regulatory environment to enable gigawatt-scale clean energy capacity, whether through renewable energy or demand side reductions.
Applicants may apply to one or both Areas of Interest; however, Applicants must select and target only one Area of Interest per application. Please note that if an Applicant intends to apply under more than one Area of Interest, an application package must be downloaded specifically from each Area of Interest.
Applications must be submitted by the State Energy Office or other agency responsible for administering the State Energy Program, although States may work in collaboration with non-State entities. Non-State entities interested in collaborating with their respective State Energy Office must contact their respective State Energy Office.
