On December 2, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) approved an experimental revised residential off-peak energy storage/plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) tariff for Indiana Michigan Power Company, making it the third electric utility in Michigan to offer special rates for charging an electric vehicle.
Under the tariff, the utility will offer residential customers an optional provision for PEV charging stations programmed to consume electric energy primarily during off-peak hours (any time other than 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays). It will also offer an option to reimburse up to 250 customers up to $2,500 toward the purchase of approved PEV supply equipment.
