IREC, under contract with NYSERDA, will conduct a series of workshops in 2011 entitled Inspecting for Code Compliant Photovoltaic Systems. “We hope to do at least eight workshops before the end of the year,” said IREC’s Richard Michaud, project coordinator for the workshop series.
The City of Poughkeepsie’s Building Department will host the first in this workshop series of training events for code officials and inspectors on May 19, 2011, from 8 AM until 4 PM. The training is sponsored by NYSERDA.
More than 50 attendees are expected for the six-CEU session approved by the NY State Code Administration to be held in the Public Safety Building at 505 Main Street, Poughkeepsie. Chris Warfel, PE, of Entech-Engineering, will be the instructor/presenter. The material covered is a new presentation prepared by Mr. Warfel with the input of three other engineers under contract to NYSERDA to review PV system designs and/or inspect installed systems. Entitled “Inspecting for Code Compliant Photovoltaic Systems,” the workshop reflects their findings in the field as well as in design review for New York systems to date. That effort was also funded by NYSERDA, as well as the printed version of the presentation and assorted checklists that will be distributed to the attendees at the start of the training.
The NY State Department of State Code Enforcement Administration has reviewed and approved the course for 6 hours of code enforcement in-service training accreditation. Registered code professionals in the state of New York are required to earn 24 in service CEU’s per year.
Lunch will be provided by Kirchhoff Green Energy, which is currently installing a large PV system in Poughkeepsie.
This workshop is intended for professionals registered with the State of New York Division of Code Enforcement who are required to earn code enforcement in-service training to maintain their certification.
