Incentive notes
To be on NYSERDA’s list of PV installers, installer qualifications will be based on, but not limited to:

  • Training /Education: There are currently two paths for obtaining the required technical credentials
    •  NABCEP Certification (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners)
      • NABCEP path for credentialing: To enter the program, an installer must be a NABCEP PV Installation Professional or a NABCEP PV Associate. An installer must attain NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification within 24 months of entering the program to retain their eligibility as of June 20, 2012.
    •  IBEW-NECA Electrical Journeyman and Apprentice Training (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and National Electrical Contractors Association)
      • IBEW-NECA path for credentialing: A Journeyman Electrician with IBEW-NECA PV training or a Journeyman Electrician that has completed any approved 40 hour PV training course may gain and retain eligibility
  • Experience: Installers will be evaluated on past performance in NYSERDA programs, including systems installed under PON 716 and PON 1050, areas of responsibility within their firm or organization, installation experience, experience in performing shading analysis, credentials, employment history, customer satisfaction, and other relevant experience (i.e. installation of grid-connected PV systems). References and contact information to allow verification must be provided.
  • Customer References: Provide three written and signed business references for completed, grid-connected PV installation where the installer had a primary role in installing the system are preferred. Verifiable references for specific projects should be accompanied by a brief description of the systems installed and the applicant’s role in the project.
  • Performance Under Other NYSERDA Programs: An installer application will not be processed if the applicant is listed as the Installer on delinquent system or where unresolved customer or performance issues exist with respect to PON 716, PON 1050, PON 2112 PV system or any similar NYSERDA program.
