NREL, DOE Release New Multifamily Job Task Analyses for Home Energy Upgrade Industry

The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced the availability of four multifamily Job Task Analyses (JTAs) for the home energy upgrade industry:

These JTAs catalogue the knowledge, skills and abilities that multifamily practitioners need to perform a given job effectively and safely.  JTAs are resources that allow industry to define quality work and educate a skilled workforce to perform that work.  Ensuring quality work and having access to a qualified, professional workforce are key factors to enabling the multifamily building sector to grow as a distinct professional industry.

The Multifamily JTAs provide the foundation necessary to develop coursework that can be verified and accredited by third-party organizations and promote a higher level of consistency and quality within the multifamily energy upgrade sector.  The development of JTAs is the first step in creating training program accreditations and worker certifications as needed within the multifamily industry.

DOE and NREL greatly appreciate the large number of industry experts who not only took part in the development workshops, but who also participated in the validation studies.  These collaborative efforts contribute to the soundness and accuracy of the multifamily JTAs, and enable the improvement and growth of the multifamily energy upgrade industry.
