Hard working employees of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) across the nation have asked for relevant training to help them perform their jobs more effectively, and now it’s on the way!
IREC recently previewed the first of a series of online learning modules at the national Community Action Partnership annual convention in Chicago.
Attendees were treated to a sneak peek of the exciting new interactive online modules currently under development, set to launch in 2020. With real-world situations supplied by a group of active WAP professionals, the training has the learner make decisions as they would on the job, while they learn best practices from industry peers.
“The learning modules will offer new and experienced WAP administrative staff – from program directors and fiscal managers to supervisors who oversee quality initiatives – the opportunity to learn about best practices in program management and work processes, and to practice simulated job tasks,” says IREC Director of Credentialing Anna Sullivan.
Initial feedback from the WAP network is excellent. WAP professionals are excited to take advantage of this new offering to support the innovative WAP program, which provides energy retrofits to approximately 35,000 eligible low-income households in the U.S. each year.
Anna presented at the conference alongside Erica Burrin, managing team lead for weatherization at the US Department of Energy, together detailing the work IREC is leading for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and DOE to support WAP administrative staff.
