Jeffrey Stevens, Assistant Professor in the Electricial, Computer, and Robotics Department at Alfred State College tells IREC that they’re offering a 40-hour theory and hands-on installation course for PV systems.

According to Stevens, this course will instruct students about PV systems for both grid-tied and off-grid systems, including basic system sizing and equipment operation.

Upon completion, students may take the NABCEP Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge (COK) exam for PV systems. This COK does not qualify individuals to install systems, but it does offer a marketability advantage to those who ultimately wish to achieve NABCEP Certified PV installer status. This exam is not included in the tuition for this course.
