Since 2005 when IREC launched ISPQ, this credential has quickly become widely accepted as the benchmark quality standard for educational training programs and trainers. In fact, the volume of applications for the ISPQ credential is still on the uptick, an indicator of the strong demand for quality training.
If you’ve been thinking of applying to ISPQ, either for a training program or as a trainer, here are a few tips to help you decide which credential is right for you. Take some time to review. There’s a lot of information, but instructions are clearly written and helpful.
1) Review the six ISPQ accreditation or certification recognitions to see which one(s) you’re interested in, and if you or the program meet the requirements of the ISPQ International Standard 01022.
2) Review the Candidate Handbook for ISPQ Standard 01022. It’s a hefty document, but it will give you all the information you need to know about eligibility, fees, annual maintenance of the award, timelines, and policies.
3) Email a one-page Letter of Intent to Apply (LOI) indicating which credential you’re seeking. Once you send in your LOI, you’ve got 60 days to turn in the full application.
4) Submit your application(s) with the appropriate fee(s). Mail applications for the ISPQ credential to: Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Inc., Attn: ISPQ Applications Division P.O. Box 1156, Latham, NY 12110-1156. Credit cards are not accepted.
The ISPQ process typically takes no longer than one (1) year from the date the application is received to the final determination by the Awards Committee. But the ISPQ credential is not a lifetime credential. ISPQ accreditation and certification is on a five-year cycle with annual reviews. The renewal process at the end of the five year period requires a full application and audit process.
Be sure and visit the ISPQ page of the IREC website to get more details about the credential. Questions? Send us an email.
