It may be triple digits here in Austin this weekend, but that’s the perfect setting for the Texas Solar Energy Society’s 2010 Cool House Tour. This year, the tour features one zero energy home in the 12 home tour.
According to TXSES’s Executive Director, Natalie Marquis, this year’s 12 homes are a mix of affordable houses, remodels, middle and high end construction. Seven of the homes feature solar PV or solar thermal systems. The tour is co-hosted by Austin Energy’s nationally recognized, award-winning Green Building Program.
In addition to solar thermal and PV technologies, all homes include a range of green features including passive solar design, rainwater catchment, small wind systems, heat pumps, high efficiency windows, and Energy Star rated appliances.
