The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is once again hosting a conference on small and community wind. This year’s conference will be held September 15-17 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Small and Community WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition focuses on the unique characteristics of small wind technology and community owned large-scale wind project development. The conference is designed to foster networking and encourage strategic thinking for the use of small/distributed wind technology and development of community owned wind projects. Participants learn the latest on national renewable energy legislation, technology costs, zoning requirements, utility interconnection, tax revenues and investment opportunities from small and community wind industry experts.
This year’s event will be held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. With over 100 exhibitors and over 1,000 attendees annually, the Small and Community WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition plays an important role in connecting the leaders in the small and community wind sectors.
Registration is now open. Deadline for early registration is August 25th.
Part of the mission of Small and Community WINDPOWER is to share the power of wind with the public, therefore eco-minded individuals are encouraged to learn about how wind technology could help change their impact on the environment by walking the exhibit hall, or attending an educational session to gain knowledge, get advice, or maybe satisfy their own energy needs.
The exhibition will be open to the general public for $10 on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Other educational sessions offered on Saturday morning include Introduction to Wind Energy and Wind Fundamentals for Installers. There is a $50 charge for these workshops. Click here for more information or to register.
