Delaware Tech receives solar education and training from the Northern Mid-Atlantic Solar Resource and Training Center, one of nine regional training providers in the Solar Instructor Training Network. ed

At the GridSTAR training facility at the Philadelphia Naval Yard, Delawre Tech/Terry students Josh Gorrell and Emily St. Clair, and Delaware Tech/Stanton students Gail Yborra and Fausto Arellano worked with solar experts Matt Fedorko, a Northern Mid-Atlantic solar education and resource center architectural engineering instructor from Penn State, and Jeremiah Jancik, an instructor of design and safe installation at Apollo Solar and Energy.

DelawareTech Students Install Solar Panels at Philly Naval Yard
Delaware Tech students from the Terry and Stanton campuses – accompanied by instructors Jennifer Clemons (Terry) and Dan Kasper (Stanton) – recently visited Penn State University’s GridSTAR facility at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia.

The students worked on a large mock roof to mount and install a ballasted photovoltaic system. The system avoids drilling into the roof by using racks with weights to mount the panels. They also used an IV-tracer to troubleshoot any problems that might occur when installing photovoltaic systems.
