Dennis Scanlan Wins Small Wind Advocate of the Year

Dr. Dennis Scanlin, Professor and Coordinator of the Appropriate Technology Program in the Appalachian State University (ASU) Department of Technology, received the ‘Small Wind Advocate of the Year’ award from the US Department of Energy Wind Powering America program for his leadership in small-scale wind energy activities in Western North Carolina.

For nearly a quarter of a century, Dennis, a Professor & Coordinator of the Appropriate Technology (AT) Program in the Department of Technology at Appalachian State University (ASU), has been coordinating the AT program. He also directs the small wind activities as part of the ASU Energy Center, including the ongoing North Carolina Small Wind Initiative.

The award was presented to Dr. Scanlin on June 5th at the annual Wind Powering America State Summit following the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA’s) annual WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition, June 1-4, in Houston, Texas.
