It’s already shaping up to be another large gathering of the solar community in Anaheim next week at Solar Power International. According to SEPA, numbers are up from last year at this time. There are more than 900 exhibitors; last year, there were only 420.

IREC team members join friends and colleagues on the agenda for three sessions at Solar Power International 2009. Check final agenda for room numbers.

1) Who Will Be the New Regulator? Wednesday, 10/28/2009 11:00AM -12:30PM. Jason Keyes, Keyes & Fox, LLP

Learn how the apparent shift away from state-based programs towards national programs and national standards will affect regulations, compliance, and best practices.

2) Interconnection: An End Market Partnership Between Utilities and the Industry, Wednesday, 10/28/2009 11:00AM -12:30PM. Kevin Fox, Keyes & Fox, LLP

Decades of evolution of utilities delivering safe, reliable, cost-effective electricity has resulted in entrenched, inconsistent, widely varied sets of interconnection processes nationwide. We need a new paradigm. In this session, we will look at the roles of the essential agencies involved from SolarABCs to SEPA, through to the local level in achieving harmonization of interconnection methods.

3) Installation Standards: Benefits of Quality and Consistency, Wednesday, 10/28/2009 3:30PM – 5:00PM. Jane Weissman, IREC

Economies of scale are essential to reducing costs, yet in order to achieve scale, one must aggressively pursue standardization and quality assurance, which improves consistency, enables scalability, and simplifies execution in the end market. Stakeholders will collaborate openly about how we ensure that innovation flourishes, while striking a balance of consistency across system components and credentialing schemes.
