IREC Welcomes Anna Sullivan to its Credentialing Team
The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) announces the expansion of the IREC Credentialing Program with a recent addition to its team. Anna Sullivan joins IREC as credentialing services manager, a new position designed to enhance individualized service and support to the growing number of applicants and IREC credential holders. An American National Standards Developing Organization, IREC accredits clean energy education and training programs, including at community colleges across the U.S., and certifies clean energy instructors.
Sullivan brings to the program 14 years of experience in energy efficiency and building resiliency, primarily in training program design, delivery and evaluation, curriculum and assessment development, and worker certification. IREC, which for more than 30 years has led national efforts to make clean energy accessible and affordable for more Americans, works through regulatory efforts and broad workforce development initiatives, including the IREC Credentialing Program. Regarded as an independent thought-leader on clean energy workforce development, IREC is the national administrator of the widely recognized Solar Instructor Training Network.
Sullivan most recently served as Director of Curriculum Development and Accreditation at the Association for Energy Affordability, Inc. (AEA), a DOE Weatherization Training Center and energy program service provider headquartered in New York City. At AEA, she successfully guided the organization through the process of applying for the IREC credential.
“This position was created in recognition of the importance of bringing IREC’s service and support of our applicants and credential holders to the next level,” says IREC President/CEO Jane Weissman. “Anna brings her experience as an IREC credential holder, along with a rich background in energy efficiency training and curriculum development,” adds Laure-Jeanne Davignon, director of IREC’s Credentialing Program. “We are confident that she will enhance the experience of our applicants, and help IREC identify key services that will continue to increase the value of holding an IREC credential.”
Prior to her work with AEA, Sullivan served as the director of the Community Services Block Grant in Cook County, IL; as manager of training for CEDA Weatherization in Chicago, IL; as a training coordinator for American Red Cross Building Resiliency Programs; as community development analyst for the OSCE in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; and as a journalist in England.
Since 2013, Sullivan has been a member of IREC’s Credentialing Award Committee. She currently serves on the National Institute for Building Science (NIBS) Building Science and Technology Education Committee, and the National Trainers’ Consortium for the Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program. She also served on the exam development committee for Certified Energy Auditor by NREL/BPI’s (National Renewable Energy Lab/Business Performance Institute) national Home Energy Professionals certification.
“I’m delighted to join the IREC team in this new capacity, focused on supporting and strengthening the network of credentialed training programs and trainers serving our clean energy workforce,” said Sullivan. “Credentialing provides a bedrock of quality for everyone involved in the clean energy industry, from trainers and students to businesses and consumers. I am looking forward to contributing to IREC’s critical mission in this role.” An alumna of Oxford University and the University of Chicago, Sullivan holds a BA in Modern Languages and an MA in International Relations.
