Based on feedback from the January stakeholder meeting, The Small Renewables Initiative (SRI), a program of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust, has issued updated guidelines for the micro wind projects they fund. The $35,000 per project cap has been removed, and an additional $1,000 is now built into the initial rebate for all projects, regardless of system size.
SRI provides rebates for the installation of micro wind projects that are up to 10 kilowatts and located at residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and public facilities. The applicant and project site must either be a customer of a Massachusetts investor-owned electric distribution utility or be a customer of a Municipal Light Plant Department that pays into the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust.
The program information, including updated solicitation, application, and other attachments, is now available on the SRI website at:

Through the SRI program, the Trust has funded over one hundred awards to micro wind projects, of which more than forty are now installed and operating. The Trust’s goal is to provide incentives for the installation of the best projects in the best locations. Applications are received on a rolling, first come first served basis.
