In the January 2010 issue of NABCEP News, Ezra Auerbach says NABCEP is readying to launch two new certification programs: small wind installer and PV technical sales.
According to Auerbach, the Small Wind Candidate’s Handbook, a Study/Resource Guide and an on-line application should be hitting the streets (and the NABCEP website) in March, in plenty of time for prospective applicants wishing to sit for the September 2010 exam. Timotheìe Neron-Bancel, NABCEP’s Operations Manager, is riding herd on this new certification program.
The PV Technical Sales Certification Committee is moving through the process to develop this certification which will focus on those, other than installers, involved in the sale and commissioning of a PV system and who do the following types of jobs: site visits, energy efficiency analyses, PV performance estimates, cost estimates, component selection, preliminary design, rebate and permit application paperwork, proposals and, sales.
In January, NABCEP sent an industry-developed survey to those in the PV sales and support chain seeking input and guidance for developing the certification exam. Contact Rex Manchester for more information about this certification initiative.
