The Solar America Board for Codes and Standards (Solar ABCs) announces its annual Photovoltaic Stakeholder Meeting on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 8:00am – 12:30pm in San Diego, California. The meeting immediately follows the Solar Power International Conference.
At the meeting on October 17, Stakeholders will learn about first year results and recommendations from Solar ABCs and discuss current hot topics in solar codes and standards. The topics discussed will include fire safety code and standard issues, proposals for changes to the National Electrical Code, grounding issues, PV cell performance recommendations, interconnection, net metering, and solar access laws. The Stakeholder Meeting will be held at the San Diego Convention Center on October 17 from 8:00am – 12:30pm. The meeting is free.
The Solar America Board for Codes and Standards (Solar ABCs) is a collaborative effort among experts to formally gather and prioritize input from the broad spectrum of solar photovoltaic stakeholders including policy makers, manufacturers, installers, and consumers resulting in coordinated recommendations to codes and standards making bodies for existing and new solar technologies. The U.S. Department of Energy funds Solar ABCs as part of its commitment to facilitate widespread adoption of safe, reliable, and cost-effective solar technologies.
Solar ABCs is managed by the Southwest Technology Development Institute at New Mexico State University in partnership with Arizona State University, Behnke Erdman and Whitaker Engineering, Brooks Engineering, Florida Solar Energy Center, Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Inc., North Carolina Solar Center, PowerMark, Sherwood Associates, Sunset Technology, and Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
