Minnesota and Illinois will become centers of solar training in the Midwest this spring!  Through relationships built by the Midwest Solar Training Network  (MSTN), the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is partnering with Midwestern organizations to host two regional conferences: the Solar Powering Minnesota conference in St. Paul and the Solar Powering Illinois conference near Chicago.

The MREA and MSTN Partnering Institutions are offering a wide range of photovoltaic training, including course topics in site assessment, inspecting, and program development.

The Minnesota courses will run March 6-8 and include:

  • Photovoltaics 101
  • Solar PV Site Assessor Training
  • IAEI Inspecting PV Systems
  • Advancements in PV
  • PV Program Development
  • PV Sales & Finance

Illinois courses will run April 7-9 and include:

  • PV Sales & Finance
  • PV Curriculum Design
  • PV Math
  • PV Site Assessment

Minnesota Pioneers Integration of New Interconnection Standard Expected to Propel DERs

On Nov. 14, Minnesota became the first state to officially integrate the recently updated IEEE Standard 1547™-2018 into its statewide interconnection regulations when the Minnesota Public Service Commission adopted a new statewide technical standards document, known as the Technical Interconnection and Interoperability Requirements (TIIR). As part of their ruling, and heeding IREC’s recommendation, the Commission determined that the Distributed Generation Working Group will need to address a number of important near-term implementation details to ensure a smooth rollout of the standards.
