On March 11, South Dakota Governor Rounds signed a renewable energy measure (South Dakota S.B. 61) into law. This law requires each electric utility to file their minimum rates for purchases of renewable electricity produced by systems 100kW or less. These rates are to be filed with the Public Utilities Commission but do not require PUC approval. South Dakota does not currently have a net metering policy.
