The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals & Energy is currently seeking public input regarding the development of the 2014 Virginia Energy Plan, which must be submitted to the General Assembly by 10/1/2014. DMME is currently collecting public input during “listening sessions” conducted around the state. In addition, Gov. Terry McAuliffe issued an executive order on 6/4/2014 establishing the Virginia Energy Council, an advisory group comprised of members representing the state’s energy industry. The Council’s duties include reviewing and evaluating input offered by Virginia’s residents and businesses related to the state’s energy plan; and developing strategies to increase Virginia’s renewable energy economy and grow the entire energy industry in Virginia by retaining, expanding, and attracting businesses in the energy sector. Virginia’s current energy plan was adopted in 2010.
