Director of Workforce Programs
Type: 100% of full-time; exempt

Salary range: $100-110K

About the Position
The Director of Workforce Programs develops and implements programs to grow a high quality, diverse clean energy workforce in support of bold clean energy goals. They coordinate partners and stakeholders to develop robust training to jobs pipelines for a range of clean energy sectors, including solar, storage, energy efficiency, building electrification, and electric vehicles. Leveraging a holistic approach to workforce development, the Director works to promote clean energy careers and remove barriers to entry to the workforce for diverse and historically disadvantaged populations. They develop strategic programs to foster productive communications and sharing of best practices and resources between training providers, employers, energy justice organizations, policy makers and program designers, and other workforce development stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of IREC workforce projects, including managing employees, subrecipients, partners, and subject-matter-experts and meeting project milestones
- Leverage workforce expertise to help shape IREC’s strategy and direction, including tactics to increase the size, skill level, and diversity of the clean energy workforce
- Provide technical assistance to policy makers, program designers, funders and other partners in the area of workforce strategy and training development
- Provide management oversight of IREC’s Credentialing Program for clean energy training providers
- Network with clean energy, workforce, credentialing, and other experts to identify and promulgate best workforce practices and resources
- Conduct outreach to promote clean energy careers, workforce best practices, and information about IREC projects and programs
- Contribute to IREC workforce funding proposals as requested
- Evaluate project and program performance and suggest process and design improvements based on data
Essential Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience/ Qualities:
Required
- At least five years of experience leading workforce development programs in a higher education, non-profit, or organized labor setting
- BA/BS degree
- Experience managing complex, long-term projects of national or regional scope, including oversight of staff and subcontractors, funder relations, ensuring deliverables, and facilitation of subject-matter-expert and partner/subrecipient interactions
- Training development or training administration experience
- Track record of developing job or training recruitment programs focused on diverse or historically disadvantaged populations
- Experience engaging stakeholders and building networks focused on common objectives
- Strong interest in or experience working on clean energy, climate, energy justice or environmental issues
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate challenges
- Ability to work in a geographically distributed virtual team environment
- Superior writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- Personnel certification or other credentialing administration experience
- Experience partnering with organized labor on training and other workforce issues
- Experience with apprenticeship or other work to learn models

ELearning Instructional Designer

About the Position
The Elearning Instructional Designer designs, develops, updates, and maintains learning content for adults. IREC training is focused on increasing the effectiveness of a range of professionals with clean energy technologies, such as solar, energy storage, wind, building performance, and energy efficiency. Reporting to IREC’s Director of Training and Development, this position collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to identify training gaps and produce content that removes barriers to the deployment of clean energy across the country.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop engaging and memorable learning experiences, with interactive activities including scenarios, simulations, and games
- Work with SMEs or independently to assess learner needs and develop outcomes-based learning objectives that align with best practices and industry standards
- Plan and facilitate effective stakeholder and SME meetings that enable development of relevant content to support learning objectives
- Collaborate with the training team to develop design strategies for online courses
- Build storyboards and narration scripts
- Develop materials using elearning authoring software (Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia studio)
- Leverage graphics and video content to support learning objectives
- Provide quality control support for the training team
- Evaluate training effectiveness and propose changes to improve courses
- Administer “IREC Online” IREC’s learning management system (Elevate platform)
Essential Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience/ Qualities:
Required
- Five years of experience conceptualizing and developing online technical learning for adults
- BA/BS degree
- Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design theory, models, and technical training best practices
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring and development tools, such as Articulate 360 (including Rise and Storyline), Captivate, and related SCORM compliant production tools
- Elearning design and development experience, including storyboarding and script writing
- Independent and motivated to handle multiple complex projects and effectively adhere to deadlines and project plans
- Ability to use multimedia tools to produce and edit audio/visual elements
- Ability to meet deadlines and communicate challenges
- Ability to work in a geographically distributed virtual team environment
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Interest in clean energy and climate issues
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, or related field
- Master’s degree in eLearning, instructional design, or a related field
- Graphic design skills
- Experience in the nonprofit or higher education sector
- LMS administration: including course development, student group creation, assignments, reporting, and troubleshooting technical issues
- Web development experience
