On July 20, a diverse crowd of code officials, architects, designers and installers had a chance to add solar knowledge to their existing skills and qualifications at a half-day workshop in Pittsburgh in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Codes Conference.

Providing an intro to solar basics and permitting best practices, as well as iCode and National Electrical Code provisions impacting solar installations, the course was designed in partnership with the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP) and International Code Council’s Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (ICC-SRCC).

Participant feedback indicated that much of the information presented “was not previously known” and that the resources provided were helpful. All participants agreed that they could apply knowledge learned in the workshop to their job.

The workshop was funded by the US Department of Energy’s STEP program.
