IREC Brings its Interconnection Expertise to the Island of Puerto Rico
Over the past year, IREC has worked with the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau (PREB) to support the development of interconnection rules for microgrids.
Getting good rules of the grid in place will be key to ensuring Puerto Rico can create a cleaner, more resilient electric grid and meet newly adopted 100% renewable energy 2050 policy goals!
On June 21st, IREC Vice President of Regulatory, Sara Baldwin, and IREC’s lead regulatory attorney, Sky Stanfield, travelled to Puerto Rico to attend an Interconnection Workshop, hosted by the PREB.
The day-long workshop convened diverse stakeholders, including distributed energy resource developers, government officials, national labs, non-profits, and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority to discuss the challenges and solutions for interconnection on the island.
