A new video geared to at-risk youth features AJ, who found out about the growing solar industry from his Job Corps advisor. Students throughout the country can learn about AJ’s journey to a rewarding career in solar, thanks to an innovative partnership between IREC and Home Builders Institute (HBI).

The U.S. solar market continues its dazzling story, shattering all previous quarterly solar photovoltaic (PV) installation records. Now there is an updated tool to help you share with students and other stakeholders more about this rapidly advancing and changing industry.

IREC’s Solar Career Map charts a course for promotion or advancement through the modern solar industry. Full of valuable data about the knowledge, skills and credentials needed to perform 40 key solar jobs, the map also breathes life into these occupations, through the faces and stories behind this expanding universe.

Designed to demonstrate the breadth of the industry and its critical occupations, as well as the necessity for integrated solar training in a variety of related fields, the Solar Career Map emerged from a simple vision: high-quality work and high-quality jobs are critical to building a robust, high-quality solar industry.

To play our part in appreciating our service members, last year the Department of Energy launched the Solar Ready Vets pilot program to provide veterans transitioning out of the military and into civilian life with the skills they need to enter the rapidly growing solar industry.
