State Fire Marshals Learn About Solar Training in Their States
IREC was on hand in Charleston, SC July 31-Aug 2 for the National Association of State Fire Marshal (NASFM) educational conference.

Laure-Jeanne Davignon, IREC’s director of workforce development shared initial outcomes of NASFM and IREC’s Department of Energy-funded work training 10,000 code officials and first responders to operate more safely and effectively around solar PV. The 200+ conference attendees included most state fire marshals and other state and federal officials tasked with the safety of consumers and the workforce in their states.
Other topics at the conference ranged from new research data about sprinkler systems to the National Fire Incident Reporting system (NFIR), demonstrating the broad reach and responsibilities of the state fire marshals.
“We’re looking forward to our continuing collaboration with NASFM and the state fire marshals on clean energy safety and workforce training,” said Davignon.
