Smart Inverter regulations and market requirements in the U.S., manifesting themselves as the IEEE 1547-2018 and UL 1741 SB standards, have been published, reviewed, implemented, and argued about for several years. But 2023 is the time to implement them in real DER systems. Where will adoption happen first? What degrees of freedom do states have when revising interconnection rules? How will the test houses get all the products tested? How will you know if you’re late to the market?

All of these questions will be answered at the SunSpec Alliance Annual Member Meeting and DER Technology Conference on December 7-8, 2022. IREC’s Chief Regulatory Engineer Brian Lydic will present his thoughts about the national rollout of the IEEE 1547 standard and UL 1741 SB along with a panel of experts consisting of Michael Mendik (US Country Manager of Goodwe), Ken Boyce (Senior Director of UL), and Bob Fox (Principal Engineer of SunSpec) titled “Is the U.S. Market Ready for Smart Energy?” If you want answers to your questions, this is where you will get them.
