Exploring How Hosting Capacity Analysis Can Inform Proactive Grid Planning and Cost Allocation Webinar
In this workshop, we discuss how proactive hosting capacity analysis can be integrated as an objective within distribution planning processes so that investment decisions consider the impact that new capital can or will have on the system's ability to accommodate new DERs.
In this workshop, we discuss how proactive hosting capacity analysis can be integrated as an objective within distribution planning processes so that investment decisions consider the impact that new capital can or will have on the system’s ability to accommodate new DERs. Additionally, we describe a proposed alternative cost allocation framework that leverages proactive hosting capacity concepts, builds upon conventional utility rate making principles, and more equitably distributes the benefits and costs of grid upgrades to both interconnection customers and utility ratepayers. The workshop includes discussions with participants to help inform ongoing grid planning efforts in Maine.
