NACo Announces Two New Green Government Initiative Corporate Partners

National Association of Counties (NACo) Green Government Initiative (GGI) Advisory Board Chair Gregg Goslin recently announced that the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) and the Distributed Wind Energy Association (DWEA) have joined NACo’s Green Government Advisory Board as new corporate partners.
IBTS is a non-profit organization that provides value to communities, governments, and the planet by accelerating progress in the built environment and promoting solutions that encourage and support energy-efficient building. IBTS’s work is guided by a board of directors made up of five national associations representing state and local government, including NACo.
DWEA is a collaborative group of manufacturers, distributors, project developers, dealers, installers, and advocates, whose primary mission is to promote and foster all aspects of the American distributed wind energy industry.
The addition of the two new partners will enable NACo’s Green Government Initiative to expand its educational offerings in the green building and renewable energy fields and help counties locate opportunities to save money on utility costs.
NACo’s Green Government Initiative is a national effort launched in 2007 to assist the nation’s counties in developing and implementing environmentally sound, cost effective practices. It serves as a comprehensive resource for local governments on all things green, including energy, green building, air quality, transportation, land use, water quality, purchasing, and recycling.
The Green Government Advisory Board consists of 19 innovative corporate partners and 21 county leaders in sustainability that shapes the direction of the Initiative.
“We are pleased that the Institute for Building Technology and Safety and the Distributed Wind Energy Association are joining the nation’s counties and our corporate partners to help lead NACo’s Green Government Initiative,” said Goslin, commissioner, Cook County, Ill. “These are exciting times as more counties, businesses and organizations across the country are finding innovate ways to go green and reduce the cost of operating county government.”
DWEA Executive Director Jennifer Jenkins said, “DWEA is thrilled to join this progressive group and looks forward to supporting the efficient and responsible installation of wind energy technology at homes, schools, farms and businesses while encouraging the leadership of counties in the pursuit of their green government efforts.”
